Leading with Strengths: A New Chapter with MariMundo

As I sit down to write this first MariMundo blog post, I am so grateful for all the support. This month marks a major transition, a shift from a decade-long career with global tech companies to the launch of something very exciting to me: MariMundo.

A Decade of Gratitude: Thank You to My Colleagues at ServiceNow

Before I look ahead, I must look back. My journey at ServiceNow began in 2014 with a "small but mighty" EMEA marketing team. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of growing with the EMEA digital team, setting up the global localization team, and joining the website strategy team.

The highlight of this journey was the final chapter: helping set up our incredible Costa Rica office in 2024. Whether we celebrated my 10-year milestone together or navigated the excitement of opening a new site, the people have always been the "engine." To my colleagues across the globe and here in Costa Rica: Thank you for being part of my story. I look forward to continuing this journey together!

Returning to My Roots: The Path of an Entrepreneur

Launching MariMundo feels like coming home in more ways than one. While I’ve spent years in the corporate world, I am actually returning to my roots. I completed my Bachelor’s in Small Business in The Netherlands, and I am so excited to finally enter the path of entrepreneurship that I first began studying years ago.

Throughout my career, I discovered that the most successful projects weren't just about strategy; they were about the people behind them. This realization led me to become a Gallup-certified Strengths Coach. I also want to send a huge thank you to my coaching group and our coach at Gallup. We had such an incredible week together, and the energy of that group was the perfect catalyst for this launch. I’ve transitioned from leading global marketing to leading a consultancy that focuses on unlocking human potential. I am so passionate about this methodology that I’ve written a dedicated post on Why MariMundo chose Gallup Strengths as our foundation, exploring how identifying unique talents transforms the way we grow.

Rooted in Costa Rica: Supporting the Occidente Region

Alongside my passion for coaching, I am focusing my energy right here in the beautiful Occidente region of Costa Rica. This area is growing rapidly, and while that growth is exciting, we must protect the natural beauty that makes it so special.

I am thrilled to share that one of my first major projects involves collaborating with Fundema, a local foundation dedicated to environmental conservation. By supporting local foundations and small businesses, we are ensuring that as our community grows, it does so sustainably. I’ll be sharing much more about these reforestation and conservation efforts in my upcoming blog posts!

It has been an incredible few weeks getting everything in motion. I am especially proud to have built the MariMundo website myself to create a true home for this vision. All the photography you see across the site is the work of Danouck Photography; these are all original photos and I look forward to adding more as the journey continues.

In this post, I am also sharing a few snapshots from my recent business meetings and coaching sessions, special moments that capture the energy and purpose behind this new beginning.
